I have experiance fitting th CarPlay mmi module (limcet) with both CCC and MASK units using the older idrive controller. I have recently purchased a 2009 model which was the year I had the new style cic idrive controller but the mask2 idrive unit.

Does anyone know or have experiance with this? I am wondering if the limcet/mmi boxes are configured to only work on the older style xontrlller as I recall there being a toggle switch to detect the variations of that contrlller (under m5 had a point at which the wheel will go so far).

Somewhere read online that the controller will work the same way as the menu button is recognised in the CAS and shouldn’t cause any problems.

Thanks and appreciate any help. Just don’t want to take the plunge on this as it’s expensive if the controller doesn’t work. The support team on aliexpress as useless and keep insisting I have cic.

Hi all,

Can find bits of information regarding retrofit. But not exactly what I have.

I'm in Australia and we never got the e61 535d. I have one (2005 model) that I purchased off of someone who had imported it into Australia. However it has the basic bottom of the line interior.

I also have a 2007 e61 530i with the top spec interior. M spec, comfort access, I can leave the key in my pocket and use push start etc.

Now obviously I have all the components across the 2 cars.

So, do I swap the interior? Do I swap the drive train?

The 535d great to drive. Fantastic motor. Interior is tired and basic.

Should I build the best of both? Would it just be programming to get everything to talk. CAS to DME etc

Would be a lot of work. I would have my perfect wagon though.

Thanks

Hey guys I just purchased my first bmw (09 528i e shift) with a transmission issue. The car would not move in drive or reverse so I replaced the solenoids in the valve body as well as the bridge seal and 4 sleeve seals. After replacement I reset the adaptations using a snap on scanner and refilled the transmission with around 9 quarts following the refill procedure. The car still does nothing in reverse or drive but with the car in the air in neutral, the wheels will spin up to 40 mph before traction control stops me. If you look at the actual gear position, when the desired gear is neutral the actual gear says 1. When the desired gear is drive the actual gear is also 1 but the car doesn’t move in drive. I also made sure to have the shift selector on the transmission inside the slot on the valve body but still no luck.

Also when in park the engine feels as if something is holding against it stopping it from revving. The car struggles to rev up to 3k rpms and will drop instantly as if something is fighting it. I replaced all spark plugs with ngk iridium as well as new Bosch coils and an oil change at the same time as the shift solenoid replacement. I have a cylinder 4 misfire code I need to diagnose as well as a dmtl pump code. If there is anything I could be missing please let me know because I could really use some help.
