Not my car, but it popped up on a craigslist search this morning in Southwest Missouri.

No affiliation, but this is a relatively low-miles 6MT single-hump speed cloth car and I kindof want it, somebody buy it so I don't. Looks like the only option might be EDC.

Almost bought it, seller won’t budge on price. It’s a nice car but the market is moving downwards.

It’s been for sale for 2+ months and been sitting for longer. No one’s buying cause he’s not selling (like most of the people posting $40k+ cars on here - delusional).

I don't see anything wrong with his price. $30k for low optioned, manual car in Melbourne red with under 60k Miles is right where the market dictates. Pending ppi and potential needs, it's a fair price

Exactly. If the car checks out, hasn't been used for winter driving, has been garaged, and has no issues, it's surely a fair price. Try to find another one and see how long you have to wait. If $1k or $2k is a make or break deal on a car like this one, you're looking at the wrong car. There are plenty of used up, daily beat M3s priced lower you can hunt in the common colors. Or if you don't mind a car with an accident and paintwork history and want a ZCP in MR:http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1477057

People can ask whatever they like, but the car just isn’t selling. Asking prices do not dictate “market value”

Why be salty though because seller didn't budge on price? lol If you don't like it carry on.
Most budget shoppers are people with your type of attitude.
I think 30k is a fair price.

You think so, but apparently no one that’s actually in the market for this car does. Do you see how that works? It’s not just a hard car to find, it’s a hard car to sell. Most people selling these cars have your type of attitude. They’d rather continue paying ownership costs while the car depreciates and they get minimal use out of it, instead of recognizing that multiple offers at a common price point might actually be the market value of the car. It’s okay, he can keep his car another 2 months or more. I’ve found another already

I didn't look at your history so my apologies if you have already but would love to see a pic. Throw one up here or let us know if you have started a thread. FYI I think you all make good arguments on the MR car. Not that it matters what I think.

This deal just fell through this week, after I was already approved for the full amount - I just didn’t think it was worth that much ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I’ve located a Jerez car much closer to me with the same options minus speed cloth, for a steal. I’ll post it once I can coordinate with the seller to pick it up - pending his availablility this weekend.

The market also isn't dictated by the offers you get. Very rarely will someone buy a car at full asking price, they will try to negotiate. To you and the others it isn't worth $30k, but to someone looking for this exact spec it will be. I'd probably offer $27k to get a better deal as well, doesn't mean I'd be surprised my offer got turned down and that's what we are trying to say.

There’s a balance somewhere in the middle though, for sure. I’ve never been this type of seller, so I just don’t understand it. I’m not surprised he turned my offer down, nor am I salty about it. Someone will be willing to pay, or he’ll end up lowering his asking price when it doesn’t sell. I didn’t post here to complain, but rather just to share my experience with the seller in case anyone else was thinking they’d get a deal on this car.

Fair enough. If you don't mind me asking what did you offer? I've been that seller numerous times because it's often people think their entitled to "a good deal" when reality is he probably doesn't need to sell it and/or won't sell it for less than fair market value. Not attacking you or saying you're one of those people but being a seller in today's used car market is by far one of the most frustrating annoying things in life hahahaha. I know what I'd be willing to sell my car for and I wouldn't take a penny less. Unless it's beyond normalcy, there's not much to see I guess is what I'm saying.

Hopefully you got a good deal on another car you found and you feel comfortable in your purchase, at the end of the day that's all that matters.
