considering a 530xi vs 330xi/328xi, thoughts on maintaining a 5 series?
I am in the market for a pre-owned 2006 330xi. I want the better 3.0l engine so I'm looking for on 06 vs 07 because I like the options the 06 comes with. I have an n54 twin turbo in my convertible so this is my daily/winter/extra car I was thinking 335 but not sure I want to maintain 2 turbos.
The engine is the same between the 330/530 but overall what are your thoughts on maintaining a 5 series vs a 3 series? Suspention, interior, drivetrain, etc. Really.....any major things to look out for or consider? I know the 3 series is a sportier ride, but I am not opposed to a more comfortable ride either. Last year my extra car was a mini cooper S so when it comes to comfort either of my choices will work out well. Looking at cars with 60-80k miles. |

So your looking at 330i e46 vs 530i e60 cars... I'd go for the 5er. Larger, more comfy and less beat up(by the previous owners). At 60K to 80K your probably looking at a cooling system over haul(pump. hoses, radiator) and change all the fluids/tuneup stuff and probably brakes.

Hi,I've got a 07 e60, besides mods that I've done,my car has been a jewel, knock on wood. I bought her @93k,she's 100k now,I did plugs, cabin,kn air, 2 oil changes, 1 vanos. Solidnoid, and a intake cam sensor. She runs beautiful, except the pronounce vibration at idle that's a noted as an isolater on the exhaust. I drive her only in the summer, these are very reliable cars,o don't go changing anything unless it's broke,as all bmw parts are exp. Hope this helps
