Audio upgrades in PNW?

Hey there, longtime poster over on E90post AV section and longtime audio pro. Moved back to Portland recently, wondering if any forum members are interested in stealthy and reversible audio upgrades for the E60 and E61. I've done them before, and the entire system is invisible to the unschooled eye (and leased cars can be put back to stock before the term expires!)

First E6x install was for an owner of an L7 system who hated it and wanted a sonic upgrade in terms of dynamics, warmth, and bass accuracy. (I don't do thumpy : ) He loved it!

Anyone wants to learn more about their E6x audio system and their options, happy to help.

Regards,

Hi VP,

My friend has a E60 525, non-logic7. Based on the info on OEinterface, E60 has a different approach than E90 HIFI.

http://www.oeinterface.com/showthread.php?t=13
The architecture of the E60 5-series is odd: deck power driving the front and rear mids and highs with an equalized, high-pass-filtered signal, and a balanced output driving the subwoofer amplifier in the trunk.

But the AMP harness is most exactly same with E90. This car is 2009 model, BMW has re-designed it?

They may have! The old amp was very different.

If you feel like dropping a couple bucks, and going to BMWtechinfo and getting the 09 wiring for the E60, that would be very useful. I assume the speaker count is the same? Can you post a pic of the amp?

Is this US-spec E60?

Amps looks the same as US E60 except black instead of silver on the one I saw. There aren't enough wires there for it to be running everything. I bet all it does is run underseat woofers.

Here is the AMP connector of earlier E60 model. It is 20pin with 4 twisted-pair
http://forums.5series.net/index.php?showtopic=47747

The pic I posted has 42 pin which is same as E90. it has around 10 twisted-pair (not see very clearly but certainly more than 4 )

Just a quick update. My friend has done the installation today. He use the output of the HU direclty. It proves that the output of the HU is same as E90's -- full range, balanced, low-level --- and the pin assignment is same too.

Share some pics
