What 5 series to buy
I am looking to buy a 5 series m sport, car will cover about 30k mixed driving per year. I have had a good search and a read up on the different models, I think the 520d m sport is for me.
Do I buy an pre lci 165 or buy a later 177, my concerns are the swirl flaps on the early models causing engine failure if not modified, the all the horror storied about the 177 slipping or snapping chains. Problems dps and egr valves, Jesus, maybe a petrol is a better option. Help me out chaps, what's the most reliable?

After April 2010 the BMW LCI 184bhp 2.0L diesel engine had they're chain's modified with success, any of the 177's from 2008 to 2010 were all a disaster waiting to happen!

I can not afford a 2010 unfortunately. I knew the 177 are the engine prone to this problem, just really need to decide on a lci with the 163 or the 177
