Sad to think this is probably the engine and gearbox destined to be in the F10 M5 only to be booted out by the TTV8. I hope the TTV8 will be as amazing as this engine seems to be. I heard it spins out to 9000 RPM!!

Next M5 will be V8 TT now in the X5 M and the X6 M with an automatic transmission, either 6-speed or 8-speed. People these days need both hands free to drink a latte while talking or texting on the phone. Back in 1990 40% of BMW's were bought with a manual transmission. Today it's like 3% stick shift. It'll have an automatic.

csl is actually, "competition", sport, light weight... loving the stripes though... awsome concept, i see those rims are m6 rims too in picture ten or so

That is exactly what I was thinking re: M-DCT being fitted to it. I don't think BMW would commit the time/energy/resources to make this car just for hype/PR/"celebration" purposes if they aren't going to put it in production to sell it, so there is certainly an engineering/future product planning purpose behind it too and testing the tranny makes sense.
