The snake skin (or whatever that is) totally kills the interior. But dam, what a BEAST

I'm a newb when it comes to BMW's but I'm assuming either the engine bay of the M5 doesn't have enough space to fit the turbos, tubing, etc. or the owner just preferred to have the turbos on the exhaust. Porsche's have their turbos done this all the time, and I have seen a Chevy S-10 with turbos on the exhaust because their is little space in the engine bay. So, pretty much it comes to not enough space or preference.

the real question is why NOT, theres a multitude of benifits with really no downside

turbos are hot, why not put them somewhere were they have constant cool air running over them + colder intake since its away from the engine bay + colder charged air because the turbos are cooler

the only real downside is their exposed and could get hit by a big ole rock if your dumb enough to run over one

makes sense and all, but i guess you couldn't drive it in the rain, either. hit a puddle = bye bye turbo's.
