Toyotas verified Facebook account said that the 4 cylinder optioned car will come ready from factory for a 2jz swap, they know what they are doing. CEO of Toyota used to race an mk4, I doubt he'd let the Supra name be laughed at.
Only time will tell.

Objectively a significantly better looking car than the MKIV.
Car community: "We don't get any more small, powerful, rwd Japanese performance cars and it's bs"
Supra comes out: "We hate this thing that is exactly what we asked for!!"
